Vicenza Media Console

The media console is the Vicenza Arched Bookcase laid on its side: the same deep brown oak with its open grain, the same reeded pilasters, the same molded edge and solid plinth, scaled to sit beneath a screen or along a dining room wall.

Five pilasters, each cut with three reeds, divide the front into four bays. Each bay holds a flat paneled door framed by a fine bead and closed with a single round knob in aged brass.

The top is edged with a stepped molding that throws a thin line of shadow along the front and sides, and the case stands on a plain, solid plinth, so the piece reads as built-in even when it stands free.

Behind the doors there is room for media equipment, records, or table linen and serveware. Set beside the bookcase, or with a pair flanking it, it completes a library or media wall.

Dust with a soft dry cloth, following the grain and the reeding. Wipe the brass knobs with a dry cloth only. Leave space behind the console for media equipment to breathe, and keep it out of direct sun, which will lighten the dark stain over time.
