Riviera Coffee Table

Drawn from the shuttered villas and shaded terraces of the Côte d'Azur, the Riviera Round Coffee Table takes the form of a low drum — a continuous cylinder of hand-woven cane, framed between solid oak stiles and set on a softly rounded oak plinth.

The caning is the heart of it. Each panel is woven by hand in an open square weave, then set into the curve of the frame so the drum reads as a single woven band rather than a series of flat faces. Lit from the side, it becomes almost translucent; from across a room, it reads as texture and shadow.

The top is yours to choose. In Natural Oak, the table is quiet and warm, the grain running in a single direction across the full circle. In marble — Diana Royal, Calacatta Gold, or Emperador Dark — it becomes the still point of the room, the weight of quarried stone resting on something woven and light.

The caning is the whole of it. Each panel is woven by hand in an open square weave, then set into the curve of the frame rather than applied flat. Lit from the side the drum is nearly translucent; from across a room it is texture and shadow.

The top rests on the base rather than fixing to it, so the two read as separate objects — one plane set down on something woven and light. It also means the table can be lifted apart to move.

Every stone top is cut from a natural block, so veining, tone and movement differ from one to the next and no two are alike. Cane color varies slightly across panels and mellows over time.

Solid oak, woven cane, and solid timber or natural stone depending on the top.
