Sorrento Bench

The ends are the whole idea. Each one rolls outward and drops into a cradle of solid walnut that grows straight up out of the legs, so the frame doesn't stop at the seat. It carries on up and holds the upholstery from below.

The legs splay and taper toward the floor, joined along each side by a single long rail that runs the full length beneath the seat. Seen from the front, wood and upholstery read as one continuous line.

The seat is tight-upholstered with a crisp boxed edge, and a self-welt traces each rolled end so the curve stays sharp against the walnut.

It works at the foot of a bed, beneath a window, or floated in front of a sofa where a coffee table would be too much.

Vacuum the upholstery on a low setting with a soft brush. Dust the walnut with a dry cloth, and keep the bench out of direct sun, which lightens walnut and fades upholstery over time.
